After a beautifully hectic summer here in Newquay, we’re feeling the first of the winter’s storms blast our coastline. Perfect for the kite-surfers, but too messy most of the last week for anyone else.

Has anyone managed to get in the water this week? It’s all about the winter suit and boots from here on in.

Reflection and Restoration

Still, there’s something special about this time of year…the classroom is a little quieter, much like the beaches, and it’s a time to reflect on the season that’s gone.

If you practice yoga, you’ll know that we can change our poses to stay centred and grounded in the changing seasons. After the frenetic energy of summer, buckets of coffee and the thrill of helping hundreds of students improve their English, assuming a more reflective attitude is vital to our school’s ongoing health and happiness.

From looking outwards and forwards, we’re using the new season to pause, reflect and thank the guys who travel with us on our language learning adventure.

The Hosts with the Most

Babel Fish couldn’t be what it is without our hosts.

Opening their homes, their hearts – and their fridges! – they allow our students to study English in our fab little town. More vitally, they ensure that our students feel welcomed and excited about their choice to enrol with us.

Before and after class, it’s the hosts who complete the Babel Fish experience and we couldn’t ask for better ambassadors for our county and for better people to work with.

So, as the Christmas party season approaches, we thought we’d get in early and throw a little shin-dig to show our gratitude for our on-going relationship with the people who make Babel Fish bigger than it would be without them – not so much a ‘fish’, in fact, but rather … a shoal.

Party pics to follow!
