Alex has been instructing and coaching for over 20 years, working with both complete beginners and intermediate surfers who wish to improve. This means that as your English teacher and your surfing instructor, you’re learning on the way to the beach and in the waves!

There are many surfing beaches nearby and we will choose the best location on each particular day, depending on tide and conditions. You will surf in small groups so that attention can be given to each student, regardless of their level. We will often film you surfing and use this for coaching analysis and language learning. All surfing equipment is provided, but if you have a board and wetsuit that you would like to bring, then please feel free to do so.
One morning - or sunset (tide and weather depending) we will head out on Stand-up paddle boards to explore the Gannel estuary with our partners, Big Green Surf School.
Your Safety
If, during your course, the surfing conditions are not suitable (flat or too dangerous), we will provide an alternative activity or excursion completely free of charge.
Safety in the water is of utmost importance. For all levels of surfer on a course with us, you will receive a full safety brief on your first session. We will remind students of safe practice throughout the course to make sure everybody is getting the most out of the experience. When you book a Surf and Study course with us, you will receive a PDF with some useful safety tips and vocabulary for surfing.
